INTERNATIONAL STUDENT’S GUIDELINE
Important Note:
If you are an international student coming to study at Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi Pakistan from overseas, the university can assist you with obtaining a student visa to allow you to reside in Pakistan for the duration of your studies (As per MOFA/MOI / HEC policy) (Condition apply for the duration of student’s visa).
The visa processing times vary and you should submit your documentation at least 8 weeks prior to the start of the semester to ensure that your application can be handled in good time.
The University takes no responsibility for students who overstay their visa or commit any other visa violations, including any associated consequences. All students must abide by the rules and regulations of residency in Pakistan.
University shall not responsible for any kind of misconduct /involvement of foreign student in any kind of criminal activity etc…
Foreign nationals must obtain a Study Visa from the Pakistani Embassy / Consulate in their Country. The Pakistani Embassy/Consulate will only issue a study visa for upon receipt of Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan’s ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) (https://www.hec.gov.pk/english/services/universities/Fsnoc/Pages/default.aspx) and Clearance from the Ministry of Interior (MOI), Pakistan (www.interior.gov.pk).
All foreigners/Overseas Pakistani students shall bound to obtain proper equivalence of their foreign educational certificates/degree from Inter-board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) Islamabad and Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad with the required percentage of marks/CGPA, and submit to MAJU Overseas Admissions Office within six months after joining the University. In case of failure, they will not be allowed to continue their study without the required equivalence until they obtain it.
Admission Checklist
- Check the minimum eligibility criteria for application submission (Desired grades & Numbers obtained) (https://jinnah.edu/eligibility-criteria/)
- Refer to the Important Dates (Admissions deadline / Classes commencing/ etc…)
- Submit online admission application (jinnah.edu)
- Submit application processing fee (US$ – PKR.)
- Submit all supporting documents (educational and general)
(Current and past degrees along with transcripts / marksheets having attestation from local attestation body must accepted by HEC in Pakistan.)
- After confirmation of admission, the case(s) of the foreign candidates(s) shall be forwarded to Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad along with their passport copy, photographs, admission letter, NoC of their Embassy or M/o Foreign Affairs and Student’s Information Sheet for Issuance of No Objection Certificate (NoC).
- Valid passport (having minimum 1 year validity) / National Identity card (Valid till 4 Years)
- Valid Pakistani student visa issued from Pakistani Embassy/Consulate in your residing country.
- Take the required test (English Language Proficiency Test (IELTS) as per requirement of courses. (Minimum required bands: 5.5 in all)
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Ministry of Foreign Affairs or their Embassy in Pakistan.
- Medical Fitness Certificate from relevant authority
- Any other relevant document(s)
- 06 original passport size along with 01 full length photographs (Blue Background)
VISA Process
Students must submit the following documents to the MAJU Admissions Office through postal mail/ courier service by the stipulated deadline:
- Signed copy of admission offer letter.
- Payment of tuition / hostel fee (if any) via bank (wire transfer receipt)
- Completely filled ‘Students Information Sheet’ for issuance of NOC from the HEC
Three copies of completely filled and duly signed ‘Visa Form’ (all pages) to get necessary visa clearance from the Ministry of Interior, Pakistan
Note: The form is available on the Ministry of Interior website (www.interior.gov.pk) and must be duly filled with contact/addresses of the applicant in their home country and Pakistan
- Complete copy of valid passport
- Any other document(s) required by the MOI for the issuance of visa
- Academic Records – certified copies of all academic transcripts & Certificates (Secondary, Post-Secondary, Bachelors, Masters or any other qualification)
- Equivalence certificate issued by the Inter Board Committee Chairmen (IBCC), Pakistan and/or Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan
